Jesus said, “Watch out! BE ON YOUR GUARD AGAINST ALL KINDS OF GREED (pleonexia: lusting for a greater number of temporal (physical) things); life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” And He told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I WILL TEAR DOWN MY BARNS AND BUILD BIGGER ONES, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. TAKE LIFE EASY; EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY.“‘ “But God said to him, ‘YOU FOOL! THIS VERY NIGHT YOUR LIFE WILL BE DEMANDED FROM YOU. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves BUT IS NOT RICH TOWARD GOD.” (Luke 12:15-21)
TO BE RICH TOWARD GOD,
- GUARD AGAINST THE DANGERS OF WORLDLY RICHES: “What are you so puffed up about? What do you have THAT GOD HASN’T GIVEN YOU? And if all you have is from God, why act as though you are so great, and as though you have accomplished something on your own?” (1 Corinthians 4:7)
- BE RICH IN GOOD DEEDS: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)
- BE GENEROUS AND READY TO SHARE: “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also FREELY GIVE US ALL THINGS?” (Romans 8:32)
- FOCUS ON THE REALITY OF ETERNITY: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES TREASURES IN HEAVEN (being loyal and faithful to God), where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)
WE MUST READ GOD’S WORD, TALK TO GOD DAILY SO, WE KNOW ALL ABOUT HIM WHO WE ARE SPENDING ETERNITY WITH…
