What is the Book of Life? The Book of Life is identified as a record of the names of those who have been BORN AGAIN. This is the first mention in the New Testament, “I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in THE BOOK OF LIFE.” (Philippians 4:3) Jesus says, “…there are a few who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. HE WHO OVERCOMES (nikaō: come off victorious) shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the BOOK OF LIFE; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” (Revelation 3:5) “…anyone not found written in the BOOK OF LIFE was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)
Some believe that once you name is in the book it can never be “blotted out.” “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will DEPART FROM THE FAITH, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons…” (1 Timothy 4:1) God will not allow someone involved with deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons into Heaven. David says this about his enemies, “I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God…For they persecute the ones You have struck…Let them be BLOTTED OUT of the BOOK OF THE LIVING, And NOT BE WRITTEN with THE RIGHTEOUS.” (Psalms 69:3, 26, 28)
My feeling is that if a person once having a real relationship with God, decides to live for the devil instead, “…if, after they have ESCAPED THE POLLUTIONS of the world THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, they ARE AGAIN ENTANGLED IN THEM AND OVERCOME, the latter end IS WORSE for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them NOT TO HAVE KNOWN the way of RIGHTEOUSNESS, than having known it, TO TURN from the holy commandment delivered to them.” (2 Peter 2:20-21) “…when a righteous man TURNS FROM HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS AND COMMITS INIQUITY, and I lay a stumbling block before him, HE SHALL DIE; HE SHALL DIE IN HIS SIN, and his righteousness which he has done SHALL NOT BE REMEMBERED…” (Ezekiel 3:20) “The righteousness of the righteous man SHALL NOT DELIVER HIM in the day OF HIS TRANSGRESSION; “When I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, but HE TRUSTS IN HIS OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS AND COMMITS INIQUITY, NONE OF HIS RIGHTEOUS WORKS SHALL BE REMEMBERED; but because of THE INIQUITY THAT HE HAS COMMITTED, HE SHALL DIE.” (Ezekiel 33:13)
WE ARE SERVING A HOLY GOD SO WE MUST BE HOLY…
