AS A LITTLE CHILD…

Once when some mothers were bringing their children to Jesus to bless them, the disciples shooed them away, telling them not to bother Him. But when Jesus saw what was happening, He was very much displeased with His disciples and said to them, “Let the children come to me, for the Kingdom of God BELONGS TO SUCH AS THESE. Don’t send them away! I tell you as seriously as I know how that anyone who REFUSES TO COME TO GOD AS A LITTLE CHILD will never be allowed into His Kingdom. Then He took the children into His arms and placed His hands on their heads, and He blessed them. (Mark 10:13-16)

Those who are led by the Spirit of God are CHILDREN (teknon: anyone living in full dependence on the heavenly Father) OF GOD. You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out by the Spirit’s power, we call God “Abba.” Abba means Daddy. The Spirit Himself joins with our spirits. Together they give witness that WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN…and if children, then heirsHEIRS OF GOD AND JOINT HEIRS WITH CHRIST…” (Romans 8:14-17) As parents, grandparents, and mentors it’s important for us to help our children learn and understand the promises of God. If we lead as examples of Jesus Christ and speak Scriptures of promise but also of warnings to our children, they will know the way to choose. Even when we fail to see God working in the lives of our children, WE CAN HAVE FAITH THAT HIS WORD WILL NOT RETURN VOID

“Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. And when JESUS WAS TWELVE YEARS OLD, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. So, when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both LISTENING TO THEM AND ASKING THEM QUESTIONS. And all who heard Him WERE ASTONISHED at His understanding and answers. So, when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, your father and I have sought You anxiously.” And He said to them, “WHY DID YOU SEEK ME? DID YOU NOT KNOW THAT I MUST BE ABOUT MY FATHER’S BUSINESSThen He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus INCREASED IN WISDOM AND STATURE, and IN FAVOR WITH GOD and men. (Luke 2:41-49, 51-52)

JESUS WAS NOT BEING RUDE WITH HIS MOTHER, HE WAS JUST BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND HIS PURPOSE!
