King Nebuchadnezzar said to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, “You will hear the horns, and other musical instruments. When you do, FALL DOWN AND WORSHIP the statue I made (this statue was covered with gold. It was 90 feet tall and 9 feet wide)…if you won’t, you will be THROWN AT ONCE INTO A BLAZING FURNACE. Then what god will be able to save you from my powerful hand?” Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king. They said, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we don’t need to talk about this anymore. We might be thrown into the blazing furnace. But THE GOD WE SERVE IS ABLE TO BRING US OUT OF IT ALIVE. He will save us from your powerful hand.” (Daniel 3:15-17)
They told the king, “But if He doesn’t, please understand, sir, that even then WE WILL NEVER under any circumstance SERVE YOUR gods OR WORSHIP the gold statue you have erected.” (Daniel 3:18) UH OH! Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, “…his face became dark with anger…He commanded that the furnace be heated up seven times hotter than usual, So, they BOUND THEM TIGHT with ropes and threw them into the furnace, fully clothed. And because the king…demanded such a hot fire the flames…KILLED THE SOLDIERS as they threw them in!” (Daniel 3:19,21-22)
“King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; he rose and spoke, to his counselors, “Did we not cast THREE MEN BOUND into the midst of the fire?” They answered “True, O king.” “Look! I see FOUR MEN LOOSE, walking in the midst of the fire; and THEY ARE NOT HURT, and the form of the fourth IS LIKE THE SON OF GOD.” (Daniel 3:24-25)
IF WE ARE FAITHFUL TO OBEY GOD, HE WILL BE FAITHFUL TO PROTECT US…
