King David was about to die so he gave his son Solomon important instructions, “…be STRONG, act like a man, and OBSERVE what the LORD your God requires: Walk IN OBEDIENCE to God, and KEEP his decrees and commands…Do this so that you MAY PROSPER in all you do and wherever you go…” (1 Kings 2:2-3) So, what did Solomon do? “King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women…which the LORD had told the Israelites, “You MUST NOT INTERMARRY with them, because they will surely TURN YOUR HEARTS after their gods.” NEVERTHELESS, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had SEVEN HUNDRED WIVES of royal birth and THREE HUNDRED CONCUBINES, and his wives LED HIM ASTRAY…his wives TURNED HIS HEART AFTER OTHER gods.” (1 Kings 11:1-4) Solomon sinned and DID NOT repent as his father David did!
So, we are thankful, “Because of the LORD‘s great love, we are not consumed, for HIS COMPASSIONS NEVER FAIL. They are NEW every morning; GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore, I WILL WAIT FOR HIM.” (Lamentations 3:22-24)
