The LORD says, “Stand where the roads cross, and look around. Ask where the OLD PATHS are. Ask for the GOOD PATH and walk on it. Then your hearts will find REST IN ME. But you said, ‘WE WON’T WALK ON IT.’” (Jeremiah 6:16) Many are saying we need a “New Bible” George Barna reports that 6% of Americans currently possess a biblical worldview, meaning that LESS THAN 10% have “thinking and behavior [that] isn’t perfect, but it’s CLOSELY ALIGNED with what the Bible teaches.”
The Bible says, “ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD-BREATHED (theopneustos: God’s breath) and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) The Bible also says this about itself, “…the word of God is LIVING and POWERFUL, and SHARPER than any two-edged sword, PIERCING even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a DISCERNER of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
The Bible also has the power to change us! “I BESEECH (parakaleō: to appeal, to beg) you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your REASONABLE (logikos: logical) service. And do not be conformed (suschēmatizō: be like everyone else) to this world but be transformed (metamorphoō: to be supernaturally changed to a godly form) by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2) This allows us to, “…PUT OFF, concerning your former conduct, THE OLD MAN which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be RENEWED (we become a new creation in Christ) in the spirit of your mind, and that you PUT ON THE NEW MAN which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24)
