“I said to the LORD: “You are my God; Hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD. O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle.” (Psa. 140:6-7) There are always going to be people in our life who misunderstand us and people who DON’T LIKE US, for whatever reason. There will always be people to criticize us, judge us, attack us, and spread rumors about us. When we are misunderstood, we’re going to BE TEMPTED to get in there and defend ourselves. When we’re attacked, our first reaction is often to attack back. When people criticize us, we may want to criticize back. When people insult us, you may want to insult them back. DON’T DO IT! Let’s let God be our defender. Every time you are under attack, criticized, put down, or misunderstood, you have two choices: You can defend yourself, or you can let God DEFEND YOU.
“My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. HE ONLY IS MY ROCK and my salvation; He is MY DEFENSE; I shall not be moved.” (Psa. 62:5-6) Which will it be? Who do you think can do a better job defending you? GOD CAN, OF COURSE. “Jesus committed no sin, and no dishonesty was found in His mouth.” When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to Him who JUDGES HONESTLY.” (1 Pet. 2:22-23) David put it this way, “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.” (Psa. 62:5-6)
THAT’S WHY THERE IS NOT A WHOLE LOT OF SHAKING GOING ON…
