As Jesus was departing He said to those listening, “…you shall RECEIVE POWER (dunamis: miraculous ability) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and YOU SHALL BE WITNESSES (martus: Jesus tells His disciples that they have seen and can prove His suffering, death, and resurrection) TO ME in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the END OF THE EARTH.” Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was TAKEN UP, and a cloud RECEIVED HIM OUT OF THEIR SIGHT (in His glorified body He can travel at the speed of thought). And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will SO COME IN LIKE MANNER as you saw Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:8-11) Jesus did not need a space suit, a space ship or breathing equipment because He, as we will also be able to, can survive in any environment.
WHAT ALL IS GOING TO HAPPEN?
- WE WILL RECEIVE MIRASULOUS ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE LORD.
- WE WILL BE WITNESSES OF HIS SUFFERING DEATH AND RESURRECTION.
- WE WILL DO THIS TO THE END OF THE EARTH.
Their motivation for doing this is they saw Jesus “taken up” No space suit, no space craft, no breathing apparatus, Jesus went into Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father and get up to work on our mansions in the new Jerusalem, a 1,400 mile cube. Preparing a place for us…Our motivation will be “believing”, Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, HE WHO BELIEVES in Me, the works that I do HE WILL DO ALSO; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12)
