“I am Your servant; give me understanding, That I may know Your testimonies (declarations, evidences, proofs).” (Psalms 119:125) The Scriptures, which affirm the will of God; are only really understood by those whom God has opened their spiritual minds and enlightened them; that they may REALLY KNOW TRUTH, so they may receive and embrace the doctrine, and do the teachings of them: such an understanding is the gift of God, and owing to His powerful and effective grace.
Paul said, “…the message of the cross IS FOOLISHNESS to those who are perishing, but TO US who are being saved IT IS THE POWER OF GOD. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? HAS NOT GOD MADE FOOLISH THE WISDOM OF THE WORLD? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the FOOLISHNESS OF WHAT WAS PREACHED to save those who believe.” (1 Corin. 1:18-21)
Let’s consider something from the scriptures, “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD. ALL THINGS were made BY HIM, and without Him nothing was made that was made…the WORD was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1-3, 14) “God so loved the world, that HE GAVE His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have EVERLASTING life.” (John 3:16)
Why did God send His Son to the earth? “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him MIGHT BE SAVED.” (John 3:17) Jesus said, “The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may HAVE LIFE (zōē: eternal life) and that they may have it more ABUNDANTLY (perissos: superior in quality).” (John 10:10)
