“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed BELONG TO US (the revealed things are our property we own them) and to our children forever, that WE MAY DO ALL the words of this law (the Word of GOD).” (Deut. 29:29) This verse tells us two important truths. It reminds us first of all that our knowledge IS LIMITED, and there are many things about God and the universe we never will know. But God does know them; in fact, HIS KNOWLEDGE IS LIMITLESS. For example, you and I don’t know what will happen a day from now, or a year from now–but God does know, and because He does, we can trust our future into His hands.
“The instructions of the LORD ARE PERFECT, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” (Psa. 19:7) This verse also reminds us that there is much we can know about God and His will–and the reason is because God has revealed it to us. This is why the Bible is so important, because it is God’s Word, and in it,
WE LEARN:
- WHO HE IS: “I am the LORD, the GOD of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jer. 32:27), “I am GOD ALMIGHTY; walk before me and be blameless.” (Gen. 17:1) “Listen to Me, I AM HE, I am the FIRST, I am also the LAST. Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, And My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together.” (Isa. 48:12-13)
- HOW HE WANTS US TO LIVE: Jesus said: “‘Love the Lord your God with ALL your HEART, SOUL, AND MIND.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR as yourself.’” (Matt. 22:37-39) “A NEW COMMAND I give you: LOVE ONE ANOTHER. AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, so you MUST love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, IF you love one another.” (John 13:34-35) “If anyone loves Me, HE WILL KEEP (obey it, do it) MY WORD; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” (John 14:23)
