OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST SAID, “I GIVE YOU THE AUTHORITY OVER ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY…”
“Jesus called His twelve disciples, He gave them POWER over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.” (Matt. 10:1) “Behold, I give you the AUTHORITY (exousia: the divine power to settle any issue) to trample on serpents and scorpions, and OVER ALL the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19) Jesus gave His disciples power over ALL THE DEVILS POWER. Then He gave a “dunamis” power, a more powerful form of power, to all who receive the Holy Spirit. “…you shall receive POWER (dunamis: power for performing miracles.) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) The word dynamite comes from this word. Then we are told that the gospel of Christ is endued with “dunamis” power. “For I am not ashamed of the GOSPEL of Christ, for it is THE POWER OF GOD to salvation FOR EVERYONE who believes…” (Romans 1:16)
Once, when Jesus was in the boat with His disciples, He told them, “Let us CROSS OVER to the other side.” (Mark 4:35) Jesus said that because He intended to cross over to the other side, so He fell asleep in the stern. A great storm arose, but IT COULD NOT ROUSE Him from His sleep, only the cries of His terrified disciples did. They HAD FORGOTTEN what Jesus had said about them crossing over to the other side. They had also forgotten that with Jesus in the boat with them, THERE WAS NO POSSIBILITY OF THEM GOING DOWN. Nothing could BY ANY MEANS HURT THEM because JESUS WAS WITH THEM. “Then Jesus arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a GREAT CALM.” (Mark 4:39) At His word the sea was smooth as glass.
Jesus assured us with this promise, “…these signs WILL FOLLOW THOSE WHO BELIEVE: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will BY NO MEANS HURT THEM; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)
WE MUST BELIEVE IN AND USE THE POWER THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO US BECAUSE NOTHING SHALL BY ANY MEANS HURT US.
