God ordered the destruction of the Canaanites (Jericho’s inhabitants) because He knew of the corrupting influence they would have if their false religious system were allowed to survive. God ordered the Israelites to march around the city once each day, then on the 7th day seven times around, then blow the trumpets and shout, “So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that THE WALL FELL DOWN FLAT. Then the people went up into the city, every man STRAIGHT BEFORE HIM, and they took the city.” (Joshua 6:20)
Let’s consider what just happened, Jericho was surrounded by a stone wall 11.8 feet high and 5.9 feet wide at the base. Inside the wall were several stone towers 28 feet high and 30 feet wide at the base. This was a very well-fortified city and God just flattened the walls so the Israelites could just walk in, “Behold, I will do A NEW THING, Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness…” Right into the enemies fort… (Isaiah 43:19)
God is known for making a way when there seems to be no way! NO MATTER HOW HIGH OR HOW THICK THE WALLS YOU ARE FACING, GOD WILL MAKE A WAY…
