JUST ONE THING NEEDED…

Jesus and the disciples came to a certain village where Martha welcomed Him into her home. Her sister, Mary, SAT AT THE LORD’S FEET, LISTENING TO WHAT HE TAUGHT (He was teaching the Word). But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She said to Jesus, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” the Lord said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only ONE THING IS NEEDED. Mary has CHOSEN what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42)

Remember what the scriptures say, In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD.(John 1:1) Here is a very important occasion, the Living Word of God is teaching the written Word of God. While this was happening, Mary was doing the ONE THING NEEDEDlistening to what Jesus was teaching!

Why is this one thing so important? “…the word of God is ALIVE and POWERFUL. It is SHARPER than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It EXPOSES our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the one to whom we are accountable. (Heb. 4:12-13) AND All Scripture is GOD-BREATHED (theopneustos) and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED for every good work.(2 Tim. 3:16-17) When God’s Word is read, God (as He did with Adam breathed into his nostrils and man became a living soul. (Gen. 2:7)) He BREATHES the Word into us which is ALIVE and full of POWER and it thoroughly equips us so we can do His purpose!!! Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.(Psa. 119:105) As for God, His way is perfect; The WORD OF THE LORD IS PROVEN (tsâraph: refined, sophisticated)…” (Psa. 18:30) The teaching of your word GIVES LIGHT, so even the simple can understand. (Psa. 119:130) the WORD BECAME FLESH and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of THE ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
