BEFORE, David, because of his sin, says to God, “Your arrows PIERCE ME deeply, And Your hand presses me down.” (Psa. 38:2) “When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand WAS HEAVY UPON ME; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah” (Psa. 32:3-4) “Against You, You only, HAVE I SINNED, And done this evil in Your sight—That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.” (Psa. 51:4) “DO NOT HIDE YOUR FACE from me in the day of my trouble; Incline Your ear to me; In the day that I call, answer me speedily. For my days are consumed like smoke, And my bones are burned like a hearth. My heart is stricken and withered like grass…” (Psa. 102:2-4) Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications. If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, WHO COULD STAND?” (Psa. 130:1-3) “Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous. Therefore my spirit is OVERWHELMED WITHIN ME; My heart within me is distressed.” (Psa. 143:2-4)
NOW, “DAVID PRAISED THE LORD in the presence of the whole assembly: “O LORD, may you be praised FOREVER AND EVER! Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. EVERYTHING in the heavens and on earth IS YOURS, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one WHO IS OVER ALL THINGS. Wealth and honor come from YOU ALONE, for YOU RULE OVER EVERYTHING. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. “O our God, WE THANK YOU AND PRAISE YOUR GLORIOUS NAME!” (1 Chron. 29:10-13)
