“Don’t you know that YOU YOURSELVES ARE GOD’S TEMPLE? God’s Spirit lives in you. If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. GOD’S TEMPLE IS HOLY. AND YOU ARE THAT TEMPLE.” (1 Corin. 3:16-17)
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SINFUL MAN TO HAVE COMMUNION WITH A PERFECT AND HOLY GOD? “…the four living creatures…never ever stop saying: “‘HOLY, HOLY, HOLY IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” (Rev. 4:8)
Thus we expect, that the history of the Temple of God as set forth in Scripture communicates both a problem and a solution:
- The Problem: Man has fallen permanently into sin and is unable to stand in the presence of a Holy God. His communion with God is broken.
- The Solution: The Perfect Man, the God-man Jesus Christ, did what no other man could. He paid the penalty of imperfection in man, restoring communion between man and God by offering Himself as a perfect living sacrifice “…we have an advocate (supporter) with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD.” (1 John 2:1-2)
