Prayer, is having a one-to-one with God, TALKING and LISTENING; in essence becoming intimate with God through communicating with Him. In Luke 11: 1-4 Jesus teaches His disciples how to pray. Intercession is a part of prayer in that it involves GOING DEEPER, standing in the gap, an intervention, a stepping in on somebody else’s behalf through prayer. This is what Moses did when God said, “I have seen this people, and behold, they are an obstinate people. Now then let Me alone, that My anger may burn against them and THAT I MAY DESTROY THEM; and I will make of you a great nation.” (Exo. 32:9-10)
Moses made intercession for the people and, “…pleaded with the LORD his God.” (Exo. 32:11) “the LORD CHANGED HIS MIND about the harm which He said He would do to His people.” (Exo. 32:14)
So what did Moses do? “…Moses saw that the people were naked, (for Aaron had made them naked to their shame among their enemies,) So he said to the sons of Levi, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘Let every man put his sword, and go in throughout the camp, and kill his brother, his companion, and his neighbor.'” (Exo. 32:25, 27) All who were naked and sinning were destroyed about 3,000 souls. Moses said to them “You have committed a great sin. So now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.” (Exo. 32:30)
And so he did!!!
