“Because you have KEPT MY WORD in quiet strength, I will KEEP YOU from the hour of testing which is coming on all the world, to put to the test those who are on earth. I come quickly: KEEP THAT WHICH YOU HAVE, so that no one may take your crown.” (Rev. 3:10-11)
- YOU HAVE KEPT MY WORD: The word “kept” (tēreō: to pay attention to, to examine so it is done properly) This means that we prayerfully and carefully study the word so we can properly do what it says. Jesus said, “Those who accept my commandments and OBEY THEM are the ones WHO LOVE ME. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and REVEAL MYSELF to each of them. Then Judas said, ” Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world? Jesus said to him, “If anyone loves Me, HE WILL KEEP MY WORD; and My Father will love him, and We will COME TO HIM and MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM.” (John 14:21-23)
- I WILL KEEP YOU: “My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed…The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand…THE LORD WILL KEEP YOU from all harm— He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (Psa. 121:2-5, 7-8)
- KEEP WHAT YOU HAVE: The Lord can help us KEEP WHAT WE HAVE, because there’s nothing our God cannot do. No crisis or circumstance can overwhelm Him. He is never surprised or shaken. He made all things, sustains all things, and rules all things, including every detail of our lives, even on the most difficult days. No hill is too high, or night too dark for Him. When what we can see is only anxiety, we’ll see the strength of His power in all He has made. Surely the God who made the mountains “…is able to KEEP YOU FROM FALLING away and will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault.” (Jude 1:24)
