John says, “I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for THE ACCUSER (katēgoros: blamer, troublemaker) of our brethren, has been CAST DOWN. And they (we) OVERCAME HIM by the BLOOD OF THE LAMB and by the WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! WOE to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For THE DEVIL HAS COME DOWN to you, having GREAT WRATH, because HE KNOWS THAT HE HAS A SHORT TIME.” (Rev. 12:10-12)
- Who is attacking us? The Devil, the adversary of God and God’s people, our ACCUSER. He has been cast out of heaven and come to us, full of wrath because, “HE KNOWS THAT HE HAS A SHORT TIME.” (Rev. 12:10-12)
- How is he attacking us? Moses, as inspired by the Lord tells us when we are most likely to be attacked, when we’re, “…(just sitting around) at HOME, on the ROAD, GOING TO BED and GETTING UP” (Deut. 6:4-9) Any IDLE TIME we have, we’ll be subject to attack, because “…he comes to steal, kill and to destroy” (John 10:10a) The devil wants to steal our trust in God, kill our confidence and destroy our relationship with God.
- How do we defend ourselves? We overcome the devil by the shed Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and by the word of our testimony according to (Revelation 12:11) Jesus said, “Listen carefully: I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL THE POWER of the enemy (Satan); and NOTHING will harm you.” (Luke 10:19)
