God was SPEAKING of His people Israel AIDAN, “I am watching them closely, and I see EVERY SIN. They cannot hope to hide from me. I will double their punishment for all their sins, because they have defiled my land with LIFELESS IMAGES of their detestable gods and have filled my territory with their evil deeds.” (Jer. 16:17-21) We might think, why does God keep putting up with them? The reason is, it is impossible for God to lie! “God bound Himself with an oath, so that those who received the PROMISE could be perfectly sure THAT HE WOULD NEVER CHANGE HIS MIND. So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy ANCHOR FOR OUR SOULS. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” (Heb. 6:17-19)
What was this promise? “God made His promise to Abraham, Himself, saying, “I will surely BLESS YOU and GIVE YOU MANY DESCENDANTS.” (Heb. 6:13-14) This is what God said to the gentile (all non-Jews) people, “…you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, WITHOUT HOPE AND WITHOUT GOD in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away HAVE BEEN BROUGHT NEAR BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST. For He Himself is our peace, who HAS MADE THE TWO GROUPS ONE and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility…Consequently, you are NO LONGER foreigners and strangers, but FELLOW CITIZENS WITH GOD’S PEOPLE…” (Eph. 2:12-14, 19)
