Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them captive with a great army of 185,000 soldiers. King Hezekiah DILIGENTLY PRAYED WILL and God said, “Surely I will send a spirit upon him (Sennacherib), and he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.” (Isa. 37:7)
Then the Lord continued to encourage Hezekiah by saying, “By the way that he came, By the same shall he return; And he shall not COME INTO THIS CITY,’ Says the LORD. ‘For I will defend this city, to save it For My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.’ ” Then THE ANGEL of the LORD went out, and KILLED in the camp of the Assyrians ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FIVE THOUSAND; and when people AROSE early in the morning, there were the corpses—ALL DEAD.” (Isa. 37:34-36)
This great victory was accomplished by ONE angel of the Lord. Look at this promise in the Word of God, “THE ANGEL of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.” (Psa. 34:7) The eyes of the Lord are FOREVER on those that hope in His unfailing love, and God dispatches ministering angels to protect His children who trust in His name. God’s holy angels are ministering servants sent forth to render service to those who are heirs of salvation.
