THE PEG IS SECURE…

This is speaking of ELIAKIM with his robe, girdle, office, and government, pointing out the change of the Jewish priesthood. Eliakim was a type of Christ. I will fasten him AS A PEG IN A SECURE PLACE, And he will become a glorious throne to his father’s house. THEY WILL HANG ON HIM ALL THE GLORY OF HIS FATHER’S HOUSE…” (Isaiah 22:23-25)

This divine fastening is explained by Jesus some 700 years later, “…a lawyer, asked Jesus a question, testing Him, and saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD with all your heart, soul, and mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR as yourself.’ ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG (kremannumi: to be suspended, to attach something to a high place so that it hangs down to be observed by all.) ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.” (Matt. 22:35-40)

What Jesus is saying in His response is that we will see all the glory of the Father by keeping these commandments. These “love commandments” are given to motivate us to obey The Lord in all we do.

Jesus said, HE WHO HAS MY COMMANDMENTS AND KEEPS THEM, IT IS HE WHO LOVES ME…” (John 14:21)
