“Many are the plans in a person’s heart…What a person desires is UNFAILING LOVE…” (Pro. 19:21-22) The word “love” is used so indiscriminately today that often the true meaning of love gets lost. Or worn out from overuse. This verse tells us that everyone desires love and not just any love, but UNFAILING LOVE. “Where can unfailing love be found?” Does lasting love really exist when everyone around us seems to be falling in and out of what they call love? (1 John 4:7) says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for LOVE IS OF GOD; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” The Greek word for “beloved” is agapetos, which means “dearly loved or worthy of love.” The very first thing this verse tells us is that we are dearly loved and very worthy of God’s Love. The second thing it tells us is we can love one another because OF GOD’S LOVE.
The only way the enormous hole in us, caused by love that has failed, is to fall into the arms of our Everlasting Father. When the Bible tells us, “GOD IS LOVE…“ it is saying that without Him, we can only create temporary, fragile and indiscriminate love.
“HE WHO DOES NOT LOVE DOES NOT KNOW GOD, for GOD IS LOVE…” (1 John 4:8)
