But how many of us have actually stopped to consider what that ACTUALLY MEANS IN OUR LIVES? We all feel the storms of life beat down on us. For some of us, it may seem like we never have a moment’s peace; it’s just one thing after another. We may be asking, “Will I ever get a break?” The answer may lie in that post or the sermon we’ve long forgotten. Maybe the answer is in that idea we’ve heard a hundred times: “GOD IS OUR REFUGE…an EVER–PRESENT help…”
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High WILL REST IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY. I will say of the LORD, “He is MY REFUGE (machăçeh: a literal shelter) and MY FORTRESS (māṣûḏ: a safe strong place), MY GOD, in whom I trust.” Surely He will SAVE YOU from the fowler’s snare (yāqôš: one who lays bait and traps) and from the deadly pestilence. He will COVER YOU with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be YOUR SHIELD and rampart. You will NOT FEAR the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” (Psa. 91:1-6) NO MATTER HOW TERRIBLE THE DIFFUCULTY GOD WILL ALWAYS OVERPOWER THE CHALLENGE…
Jesus invites us, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST. Take my yoke upon you. LEARN OF ME, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will FIND REST for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you IS LIGHT.” (Matt. 11:28-30)
