Almost every child asks “where does God live?” One of the best ways to know a person is to visit their home. This is because a person’s home is a place where he or she can be expressed. If a home is neat and clean then we know that a neat and clean person lives there. If a home is beautifully decorated then we know that the person who lives there appreciates beauty. The principle is the same with God. To know God we should find out where He lives and what His dwelling place is like.
“Our ancestors had the tabernacle…It had been made as God directed Moses…It remained until the time of David, who enjoyed God’s favor and asked that he might provide a dwelling place for the God. But it was Solomon who built a house for Him. However, the Most High DOES NOT LIVE in houses made by human hands. As the prophet says: “‘HEAVEN IS MY THRONE, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place be? Has not my hand made all these things?” (Acts 7:44-50) God the Son, Jesus Christ, came to live IN MAN “I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may DWELL IN YOUR HEARTS THROUGH FAITH.” (Eph. 3:16-18)
Jesus said this about His, (God the Son), home, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and MAKE OUR HOME WITH THEM.” (John 14:23) Then to assure us He makes this promise, “The LORD Himself goes before you and will be WITH YOU; He will NEVER LEAVE YOU nor FORSAKE YOU. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deut. 31:8) How can God do all of this? “For so says the high and lofty One (God) who INHABITS ETERNITY; whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with all those who have a contrite (repentant) and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” (Isa. 57:15) Then Jesus gives us this wonderful news, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN AND RECEIVE YOU TO MYSELF; that where I am, there YOU MAY BE ALSO.” (John 14:1-3)
