“…do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding? No one knows where to find it, for it is not found among the living. ‘It is not here,’ says the ocean. ‘Nor is it here,’ says the sea. It cannot be bought with gold. It cannot be purchased with silver. WISDOM IS WORTH MORE THAN ALL THE GOLD OF OPHIR…Wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal. It cannot be purchased with jewels mounted in fine gold.” (Job 28:12-17)
Wisdom is not the same thing as knowledge WILL. As a matter of fact, you can very easily be acquainted with facts, truths or principles, but if you DON’T APPLY this information to your life, you are actually the opposite of wise. Wisdom, especially spiritual wisdom, is not just about knowing what’s good for you, but APPLYING THAT KNOWLEDGE INTO YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE. God said to king Solomon, “Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather YOU ASKED FOR WISDOM and knowledge to properly govern my people— I will certainly GIVE YOU the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will ALSO GIVE YOU wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!” (2 Chron. 1:11-12)
The fact that Solomon asked for (not just knowledge) but INSIGHT ON HOW TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE effectively, he was granted things like riches, wealth and honor. Why? Because once you know WHAT TO DO with what you have, the Lord God CAN ENTRUST YOU WITH MORE.
