“Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart. For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth. I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, Nor will I go in with hypocrites. I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And will not sit with the wicked. I will wash my hands in innocence; So I will go about Your altar, O LORD, That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And TELL OF ALL YOUR WONDROUS WORKS…” (Psa. 26:2-7) Although David made many foolish mistakes during his lifetime AMANDA, his desire was toward THE LORD and his heart was centered ON GOD, for his hope was in Him alone. It appears that David is being accused of associating with ungodly men and participating in wickedness. But David clings to his integrity and is crying out for the Lord to judge his case and come to his defense.
David said, “I have walked in Your truth and I will go about Your altar…” Despite David’s faith in the Lord and in spite of being a man after God’s own heart, David had to endure many difficulties and dangers, but he knew that God WOULD NOT FAIL HIM nor forsake him. And as we examine the life and times of David the king, we see God working ALL THINGS TOGETHER FOR GOOD. Because we know, “He who searches the hearts KNOWS what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together FOR GOOD to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Rom. 8:27-28)
