The Lord said, “I have chosen JERUSALEM as the place for my name to be honored…” (2 Chron. 6:5-6) Solomon answered the Lord and prayed, “O LORD, there is no God like you in all of heaven and earth. You keep your covenant and show UNFAILING LOVE to all who walk before you in WHOLEHEARTED DEVOTION.” (2 Chron. 6:14) Then the Lord God said this, “For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored FOREVER. I will ALWAYS watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.” (2 Chron. 7:16) These promises by God were made almost three thousand years ago! God said He would be honored there FOREVER and He would ALWAYS watch over it WILL.
This area of the world that belongs to God was miraculously recovered in the Six-Day War, June 5–10, 1967. Israel’s decisive victory over being greatly outnumbered and out weaponed, included the capture of the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Old City of Jerusalem, and Golan Heights. The Arab countries’ losses in the conflict were disastrous. Egypt’s casualties numbered more than 11,000, with 6,000 for Jordan and 1,000 for Syria, compared with only 700 for Israel. The Arab armies also suffered crippling losses of WEAPONRY and EQUIPMENT. The lopsidedness of the defeat demoralized both the Arab public and the political elite. You just don’t mess with God…
This prayer that God taught us to pray, Jew and gentile, will work amazingly in our lives. “…if MY PEOPLE who are called by MY NAME will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will FORGIVE THEIR SINS and RESTORE THEIR LAND.” (2 Chron. 7:14)
