Paul makes this discovery, “Oh, what a miserable person I am!” (Rom. 7:24) Paul asks this question a little earlier, “When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced A HARVEST OF SINFUL DEEDS, resulting in death…Who will FREE ME from this life that is dominated by SIN and DEATH?” (Rom. 7:5, 24)
Look at the discovery Paul makes, “I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself SERVE THE LAW OF GOD, but WITH THE FLESH THE LAW OF SIN.” (Rom. 7:25) Then Paul makes this wonderful discovery, “There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to THE FLESH, but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has MADE ME FREE from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending HIS OWN SON in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: HE (Jesus) CONDEMNED SIN IN THE FLESH, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT.” (Rom. 8:1-4)
Observe this great truth TOMMY, “…to be carnally (devoted to fleshly desires in this world) minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh CANNOT PLEASE GOD.” (Rom. 8:6-8)
But, oh, just look at this!!! “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, LIVES IN YOU. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will GIVE LIFE TO YOUR MORTAL BODIES by this SAME SPIRIT living within you.” (Rom. 8:11)
