Elisha was in a certain place with his servant, “And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! WHAT SHALL WE DO?” (2 Kings 6:15)
This army was from the king of Syria and he discovered that Elisha knew of his plans to invade certain areas and warned the king of Israel before the king of Syria even told his men. So he brought his army to take care of Elisha. There was just one problem, ELISHA KNEW that “The angel of the LORD encamps ALL AROUND those who fear Him, And DELIVERS THEM.” (Psa. 34:7) So, Elisha said to his servant, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than THOSE WHO ARE WITH THEM.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD OPENED THE EYES of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was FULL OF horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:16-17)
Why could the servant not see the angels that do INDEED encamp around us, because of UNBELIEF!!! Which is a problem that MANY OF US have today, how do I know that? Because Jesus said, “MOST ASSUREDLY, (amēn: The word is directly related — in fact, almost identical — to the Hebrew word for “believe”) I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do HE (who believes) WILL DO ALSO; and GREATER WORKS THAN THESE HE WILL DO, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I WILL DO, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask ANYTHING in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:12-14)
