“Your word is VERY (me’ôd: exceedingly) PURE (tsâraph: any concealed impurity will rise to the top) Therefore Your servant loves it.” (Psa. 119:140) “The words of the LORD are PURE WORDS, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times.” (Psa. 12:6) “EVERY WORD OF GOD IS PURE; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” (Pro. 30:5-6)
“…the word of God is LIVING and POWERFUL, and SHARPER than any two-edged sword, PIERCING even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a DISCERNER of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12) “All Scripture is GOD–BREATHED and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
As David is trying to describe God’s Word WILL, he says it is EXCEEDINGLY PURE (where the precious metal is put in the fire and the corruption boils away leaving nothing but the pure precious metal). We discover this about the Word of God, IT IS:
- PURE
- LIVING
- POWERFUL
- EXTREMELY SHARP
- PIERCING
- DISCERNING
- GOD-BREATHED
“The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living. REVERENCE FOR THE LORD IS PURE, lasting forever. The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair. They are MORE DESIRABLE THAN GOLD, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.” (Psa. 19:7-10)
