“Some Sadducees asked Jesus: “Teacher, Moses wrote that if a man’s brother dies, and leaves no children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring…there were seven brothers. The first took a wife; and dying, left no offspring…So the seven had her and left no offspring…the woman died. Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife will she be?” Jesus answered, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because YOU DO NOT KNOW THE SCRIPTURES NOR THE POWER OF GOD? For when they rise, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in THE 1BOOK OF MOSES, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob?‘ HE IS NOT THE GOD OF THE DEAD, BUT THE GOD OF THE LIVING. YOU ARE THEREFORE GREATLY MISTAKEN.” (Mark 12:18-27) 1Moses is credited historically with writing the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament or Hebrew Tanakh. Those books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
The last thing one would want to do is argue the meaning of the written word with THE LIVING WORD OF GOD! The Sadducees’ did not believe in the resurrection and were very strict in keeping the teachings of Moses but as is seen Jesus rebukes them for being mistaken and not knowing the scriptures So, here is what we must do, “STUDY EARNESTLY to present yourself approved to God, a workman THAT DOES NOT NEED TO BE ASHAMED, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” (2 Tim. 2:15)
