When Jesus was transfigured in the presence of Peter, James, and John, the Father spoke from Heaven. “This is my dearly loved Son. LISTEN TO HIM.” (Mark 9:7)
There is another instances in the scriptures where the voice of the Father was heard, expressing His love for His son. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, the Lord spoke from Heaven. “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were OPENED TO HIM, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly A VOICE CAME FROM HEAVEN, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I AM WELL PLEASED.“ (Matt. 3:16-17) Not only was the voice of God heard, but evidence was given of the existence of the FATHER, the SON, and of the HOLY SPIRIT in this portion, as the Lord Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him, and the Father spoke from Heaven, affirming that this Jesus, was indeed, HIS BELOVED SON.
Just imagine you are the Father watching from heaven as they, “…took Jesus and scourged Him (this is stated simply but involved ripping flesh and muscle form the body of Christ). And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head (driving the long Judean thorns into His scull), and they put on Him a purple robe. Then they said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they STRUCK HIM with their hands.” (John 19:1-3). So, what was God’s reaction to all this? “…when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, FORGIVE THEM, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:33-34)
