“…WE KNOW that GOD CAUSES all things to WORK TOGETHER for GOOD to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Rom. 8:28) Do we really know this?
Yes, remember Joseph, Jacob’s (Israel) son? In Genesis 37:5 Joseph, age 17, reveals his dream to his brothers where all 11 of them are bowing down before him, that makes them angry. Then Jacob sends out all of his sons to work and keeps Joseph, his favorite wives firstborn home, to help him and gives him a beautiful coat. The brothers are jealous so they take his coat, tell Jacob he died, then sell him into slavery. Jacob ends up in Egypt goes to work for a leader and from that point things get ugly for him but God is always with Him. He finally is appointed by the Pharaoh to be in charge of all of Egypt and in the midst of a terrible famine he brings all his family to be rescued in Egypt where his brothers indeed bow down. The brothers said to Joseph, “Please forgive, I beg you, the transgression of your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong.” And Joseph wept…and said, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD in order to BRING ABOUT this present result, to PRESERVE MANY PEOPLE ALIVE.” (Gen. 50:17, 19-20)
