The phrase “stand your ground” used to have more nobility to it Amanda. It was about standing up for our principles. Not backing down from our Christian commitments. Being firm in our righteous convictions. Jesus taught us, “Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called SONS OF GOD.” (Matt. 5:9)
As Christians Amanda, we are called to stand our ground in being obedient to God. We are to stand our ground as we see it in Christ’s example. Jesus shows us a reality in which everyone is fed with food and with love. He shows us a reality in which people work together and all have a contribution to make. Jesus said, “A NEW COMMANDMENT I give to you, that you LOVE ONE ANOTHER; AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, that you also love one another. By this all WILL KNOW that you are My disciples, IF you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
This is one area Amanda, where we really need to stand our ground, “DO NOT love the WORLD or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father IS NOT IN HIM. (Why?) For ALL that is in the world—the LUST (to desire what is forbidden) of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is NOT OF THE FATHER but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who DOES the will of God ABIDES (will live on with God) FOREVER.” (1 John 2:15-17)
