Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, wanted some wise council so he took in the finest men he could find, “…from among the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah…the chief of the eunuchs gave names…Belteshazzar; Shadrach; Meshach; Abed-Nego…Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s delicacies, or wine; Now God brought Daniel into favor of the chief of the eunuchs.” (Dan. 1:6-9)
The chief eunuch explained that they could not look bad so Daniel said, “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us VEGETABLES to eat and WATER to drink. Then let our appearance be examined before you…” (Dan. 1:12-13) So, the chief noticed, “…at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies.” (Dan. 1:15) At the end of their training the king, “…found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.” (Dan. 1:15) These 4 Hebrew young men were mightily and miraculously used of God!
