When we really need you Lord, “You answer us with AWESOME and RIGHTEOUS DEEDS, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas. You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength. You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves…” (Psa. 65:5-7) In the midst of all that’s going on, there is one thing that we can know for sure. According to this Psalm, our God IS ALWAYS THE SAME GOD. He is the God of AWESOME DEEDS! Right now, His deeds might seem really different from the actions that we’d choose, but God is a God who acts in real time to save His people and set them free from sin and the slavery that it is.
“This is the LORD’s doing, and it is wonderful to see. This is the day the LORD HAS MADE. We will REJOICE and be glad in it.” (Psa. 118:23-24) The Lord is in complete control of everything that’s going with one exception, US! We can correct this by trusting the Lord! As the psalmist reveals to us, “O LORD, you have examined my heart and know EVERYTHING ABOUT ME. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. YOU KNOW EVERYTHING I DO.” (Psa. 139:1-3)
