That’s the devils lie to keep us from getting our hearts ready for the coming of the Lord. Just take you time, do whatever you want to do, be happy. “…you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking and following their own evil desires. They will say, “WHERE IS THIS ‘COMING‘ HE PROMISED? Ever since our ancestors died, everything GOES ON as it has since the beginning of creation.” (2 Pet. 3:3-4) Life goes on. Nothing seems to have changed. The sun rises and sets. The wind blows. The trees grow and the flowers bloom. The seas are still teeming with creatures. The earth is firmly established. Is God really coming again as He promised? What is your answer? To answer this question “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised,” Peter gave five “BUTs”
- “BUT they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed…the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.” (2 Pet. 3:5, 7)
- “BUT do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” (2 Pet. 3:8)
- “BUT the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear…the elements will be destroyed…the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.” (2 Pet. 3:10)
- “BUT in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth…” (2 Pet. 3:13)
- “BUT grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord…To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Pet. 3:18)
