BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU THROW AWAY, AMY…

“…do not THROW AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE; it will be richly rewarded. You have need of endurance so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. For, “In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.” And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who 1SHRINKS BACK.” But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.(Heb. 10:35-39) 1hypostellō: one who timidly hesitates to admit what they believe.

Have you ever accidently thrown something away AMY? You immediately dig through the trash to find it, regretting how quickly you’ve tossed it aside. God may use this to show us how easily we throw away our confidence—without recognizing it. Notice the scripture says, You have need of endurance…” because the devil will tempt us to DOUBT OURSELVES that we can do the will of God.

THIS IS WHAT WE DO,

  • WHEN SELF-DOUBT WHISPERS: “I can’t do that. I’m going to fail and look foolish. Throw away that lie and hold onto this truth, say it out loud: “The Lord is my helper, I WILL NOT be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Heb. 13:6)
  • WHEN SELF-DOUBT WHISPERS: “I’ll never change.” Throw away that lie and claim this truth: “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you WILL PERFECT IT until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 1:6)
  • WHEN SELF-DOUBT WHISPERS: “This is too hard for me. I don’t have what it takes to…” Throw away that lie and hold onto this truth: No, in all these things we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through Him who loves us. (Rom. 8:37)

Pray this AMY, Lord, I want to become one with a confident heart in Christ. Will you help me recognize when I throw away my confidence, and remind me to throw away my insecurities instead? I want to persevere in Your truth so that when I have done Your will, I will receive what You have promised. When doubt or insecurity tells me I can’t do something, I will remember that all things are possible to those who believe. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. Inspired by a devotion of Renee Swope
