“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your 1REASONABLE service.” (Rom. 12:1) 1logikós: divine reasoning known through faith. So Amanda, we present our bodies to God because divine reasoning instructs us to. What will God do with us? The trouble with this kind of question is it suggest God created us primarily for the purpose of our doing something for Him. Actually, the desire of God’s heart when He created mankind wasn’t for us to do something for Him. What God deeply desired was that He would be JOINED TO US (“…he who is joined TO THE LORD is one spirit with Him.” (1 Corin. 6:17)) and that we would be FILLED WITH HIM. That way whenever God needs us for something, we’ll be right there…
Then He tells us Amanda, “…do not be conformed to this world, but be 1TRANSFORMED by the renewing (anakainōsis: complete godly change) of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Rom. 12:2) 1metamorphoō: to be divinely changed into another form. You know, like the bullfrog and the butterfly. Therefore, whatever God desires us to be and do, He can transform us so, we will be perfectly equipped for His service…
