“More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” (Psa. 19:10)
To enjoy gold or honey — is to take delight in the beauty that gold has — beauty for the eyes — or the beauty for the taste buds that honey gives to us. People might want gold just to be rich, or they might want honey to take as a medicine. But the main reason gold is valuable is because it is SO BEAUTIFUL, and the main reason people bother to keep bees is because honey TASTES SO GOOD. It is a form that beauty takes in our mouths.
“The instructions of the LORD are PERFECT, reviving the soul. The decrees (rulings) of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” (Psa. 19:7) The instructions of the LORD teach us what is true, and they teach us how to do good for the LORD. But this Psalm makes it very clear that understanding God’s law and obeying it bring beautiful results into our lives.
When God had finished creating Adam from clay, as he lay there lifeless but PERFECTLY and COMPLETELY created, God knelt down and “..breathed into his nostrils the BREATH OF LIFE; and man became a living soul.” (Gen. 2:7) Unfortunately, man sinned, turned away from God, forfeited eternal life and was kicked out of the PERFECT PARADISE of God. Man needed to be regenerated!
God sent His Son so through the forgiveness of our sins on the cross, Jesus provided us the opportunity to live a victorious life. Through the years God used many godly people to write the WORD OF GOD, remember, “The instructions of the LORD are PERFECT, reviving the soul.” Two very important scriptures to remember, “ALL Scripture GOD–BREATHED…” (2 Tim. 3:16) “…the word of God is ALIVE and POWERFUL…” (Heb. 4:12)
So, why is the Word of God so valuable? God’s Word is ALIVE, living, it is not just words on a page. God’s Word is POWERFUL Jesus spoke the Word and “Satan went away…” (Matt. 4:11) God’s Word is the BREATH OF GOD. When we read the Word, it is BREATHED INTO US by God and His breath changes us into what He wants us to be…
