“…don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a FOOTHOLD to the devil…” (Eph. 4:26) Here is the problem, when we give the Devil a foothold in our life, he will turn it into a stronghold. What does that mean? If we give Satan control of one little part of our life, he will soon take over the whole thing. THAT IS HOW HE WORKS. The Lord God tells us not to let the day end while we have unresolved anger in our lives. If we choose to disobey God then we choosing to OBEY THE DEVIL.
Think about it like this, in the invasion known as D-Day which was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning to get a FOOTHOLD on the enemy. Remember, “…anger gives a FOOTHOLD to the devil…” (Eph. 4:26) He wants to establish a foothold in order to take over more and more of our lives. Once he gets deep enough, he turns the foothold into a stronghold, and that makes it harder for us to take back control of our lives. So, what do we do??? “God gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” SUBMIT yourselves, then, to God. RESIST the devil, and HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU. DRAW NEAR to God, and He will DRAW NEAR TO YOU.” (Jam. 4:6-8)
