“Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in PEACE, without spot and blameless…our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people TWIST TO THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.” (2 Pet. 3:14-16) In the previous verses Paul talks about The Lord not being, “…slack concerning His promise…because the day of the Lord will come AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT…the elements will melt with fervent heat…” (2 Pet. 3:9-10)
We are facing a global health crisis unlike any in the 75-year history of the United Nations — one that is killing people, spreading human suffering, and upending people’s lives. But this is much more than a health crisis. It is a human, economic and social crisis. The coronavirus disease, which has been characterized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), is attacking societies at their core. Not everyone took Peter Turchin seriously a decade ago when he said widespread civil unrest would SWEEP THROUGH THE U.S. IN 2020. In 2010, after analyzing historical cycles of instability, Turchin made a prediction that was published at the time in the journal Nature: America will suffer a period of major social upheaval beginning around 2020.
“Watch therefore, for YOU DO NOT KNOW what hour your Lord is coming. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour YOU DO NOT EXPECT.” (Matt. 24:42-44)
