“Now, the Just shall LIVE BY FAITH. But if he draws back, My soul shall have NO PLEASURE IN HIM.” (Heb. 10:38) Why would the Lord have no pleasure in us? Because as it says, “…without faith IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM, for he who comes to God MUST BELIEVE that HE IS and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Heb. 11:6)
Why must we believe that GOD IS? Because, “…it is IMPOSSIBLE for God to lie…” (Heb. 6:18) Jesus, God the Son said, “I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life.” (John 14:6) The eternal God is holy “…one seraphim cried to another and said: “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is the LORD of hosts…” (Isa 6:3) His holiness makes it impossible for Him to lie, for “HOLY” means that God is ABSOLUTE, DIVINE PURITY. He does not conform to the standard; He IS the standard. He is absolutely holy with an INFINITE, INCOMPREHENSIBLE FULLNESS OF PURITY that is incapable of being anything other than complete perfection.
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and WILL HE NOT DO? Or has He spoken, and WILL HE NOT MAKE IT GOOD?” (Num. 23:19)
