Here Paul is teaching us what happens WHEN WE DISOBEY GOD, the people of God committed sexual immorality, tempted Christ, and grumbled against God, as a result they suffered severe and deadly consequences.

“All these things happened to them as EXAMPLES—as OBJECT LESSONS to us—to WARN US against DOING THE SAME THINGS; they were written down so that we could read about them and LEARN FROM THEM in these last days as the world nears its end.” (1 Corin. 10:11) As Christ’s followers, we have the Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth. But if we NEGLECT His divine leadership and insist on going our own way, the Lord will let us FACE THE CONSEQUENCES until we finally repent and turn back to Him.
