“God is our refuge and strength, A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE.” (Psa. 46:1) Just a little over a month ago AMY, we were seeing about 4,500 deaths each day from Covid-19, today we are seeing 7,400 deaths each day. Is the Lord aware of these troublesome times we are facing? Yes, OF COURSE!!! So, are we confident or fearful as we look toward the future? Do we find it unsettling to see the degree of upheaval in the world right now? Are we worried about our family’s safety and security in such uncertain times? Are we carrying a strong assurance that the Lord’s help and strength are available for us and those we love?
Recently AMY, there is one phrase that keeps repeating itself in my mind: A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE. Amazingly, this series of words appears only once in the entire Bible—in (Psa. 46:1). The note for this phrase in my study Bible is particularly encouraging: “AN 1ABUNDANTLY AVAILABLE HELP.” 1present in great quantity; more than adequate; over sufficient:
What is this verse telling us? In good times and bad, our Lord WALKS WITH US, making His help abundantly available to us—no matter what WE HAVE TO FACE.
