PEACEFUL SLEEP, AMY…

I will both LIE DOWN IN PEACE, AND SLEEP; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.(Psa. 4:8) It is no surprise that David was called a man after God’s own heart AMY, for he recognized that God alone was HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and that God alone, AMY could be DEPENDED UPON TO:

  • RELIEVE HIS DISTRESS: Now David was greatly distressed, But David STRENGTHENED HIMSELF in the LORD his God. (1 Sam. 30:6) “…you, beloved, BUILDING YOURSELVES UP on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, KEEP YOURSELVES IN THE LOVE OF GOD…” (Jude 1:20-21)
  • PROVIDE FOR HIS NEED: David said to Ahimelech, “Is there a spear or a sword? So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the PhilistineIf you will take For there is no other except that one here.” And David said, “There is none like it; GIVE IT TO ME.” (1 Sam. 21:8-9) The LORD is my shepherd; I SHALL NOT WANT. He MAKES ME to lie down in green pastures; He LEADS ME beside the still waters. He RESTORES MY SOUL; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.(Psa. 23:1-3)
  • DEFEAT HIS ENEMIES: David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its villages out of the hand of the Philistines. And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute. David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah-Hamath…” (1 Chron 18:1-3)
  • ENLARGE HIS BLESSINGS: Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness; YOU GAVE ROOM TO ME IN TROUBLE; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.(Psa. 4:1)

“O God of my righteousness”: The ultimate basis for divine intervention resides in God, not in the psalmist. On union with God’s righteousness based on His mercy, He intervenes for us whenever trouble comes…
