“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” (Pro. 14:12)
When I worked as a design engineer AMY, developing new hardware for the Graphic Arts Industry, I would often try several schemes to find one that would work because it SEEMED RIGHT TO ME. It was about this time I received Christ in my life and found a WONDERFUL AND ABSOLUTE TRUTH about the way to salvation and eternal life! “Salvation is found in NO ONE ELSE, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) This is a strong statement of TOTAL DEDICATION to Jesus Christ. There is no possibility of religious pluralism, Jesus is in fact THE ONLY WAY, TRUTH AND LIFE. If humans (these people before Peter or any human) expect to be right with God, they can only do it through the name of Jesus.
Peter is explaining to the Sanhedrin AMY, whose authority he used to heal a lame man at the gate called beautiful, (Acts 3:1–10). Specifically, the council asks, “By what power or by what name did you do this?” (Acts 4:7). Peter testifies that He did it through the name of JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH (Acts 4:10). Jesus “name” includes the sense of His identity, power, authority, and reputation. Jesus’ name is THE ONLY NAME that saves.
Peter says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us NEW BIRTH into a LIVING HOPE through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can NEVER PERISH, SPOIL OR FADE. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are SHIELDED BY GOD’S POWER until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Pet. 1:3-5)
