My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: “In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria CAPTURED SAMARIA AND DEPORTED THE ISRAELITES to Assyria. All this took place because the Israelites had SINNED AGAINST THE LORD THEIR GOD…” (2 Kings 17:6-7)
Here are some of the detestable things they did, They:
- followed the practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before them
- secretly did things against the LORD their God that were not right.
- built themselves high places…they set up sacred stones and Asherah poles (Asherah poles, were a sacred monument to the Canaanite goddess, Asherah) on every high hill and under every spreading tree.
- did wicked things that aroused the LORD’s anger.
- worshiped idols, though the LORD had said, “You shall not do this.”
- forsook all the commands of the LORD their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal.
- The LORD warned them, “Turn from your EVIL WAYS. Observe my commands and decrees…” (2 Kings 17:8-16)
The 10 northern tribes went into captivity in 722 BC finally returned to Israel in 1948 that’s 2,670 years away from their home land because of their many generations of previous sin and rebellion against God. You see, “…God made His promise to Abraham, saying, “ Surely in blessing I will BLESS YOU, and in multiplying I will MULTIPLY YOU…God did this so that, by TWO UNCHANGEABLE THINGS in which it is IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE, we who have fled to take hold of THE HOPE SET BEFORE US may be greatly encouraged.” (Heb. 6: 13-14, 18) When we think about our own lives, we were all born as sinners, “…all have sinned…” (Rom. 3:23). The bible says, “…the wages of sin is death…” (Rom. 6:23) BUT, “…the GIFT OF GOD is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23) So, what must we do to receive this amazing gift??? “…repent and convert so that your sins may be blotted out…” (Acts 3:19) Repent means to turn away and forsake so, we ask God to forgive us and we stop sinning and receive eternal life we are then BORN AGAIN.
