“…an expert in the law, tested Jesus with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL, AND MIND.’ This is the first and GREATEST commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matt. 22:35-40) This is the response of Jesus Christ our Lord about the greatest commandment. So, what some other very important verses?
- ONE THING I ASK: “ONE THING have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I MAY DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.” (Psa. 27:4)
- ONE THING YOU LACK: “…Jesus, looking at him,LOVED HIM, and said to him,“You lack ONE THING: go, sell all that you have and GIVE TO THE POOR, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”(Mark 10:21)
- ONE THING IS NECESSARY: “…the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but ONE THING is necessary. Mary has chosen THE GOOD PORTION, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41–42)
- ONE THING I KNOW: The healed blind man answered, “Whether He is a sinner I do not know. ONE THING I do know, that though I was blind, NOW I SEE.” (John 9:25)
- ONE THING I DO: “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But ONE THING I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on TOWARD THE GOAL for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:13–14)
THIS IS THE LESSON: OUR LIVES ARE TO BE SINGULARLY FOCUSED ON JESUS.
