My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: The LORD spoke to Joshua, “Keep this Book of the Law ALWAYS on your lips; meditate on it DAY AND NIGHT, so that you may be careful to do EVERYTHING written in it. Then you will be PROSPEROUS AND SUCCESSFUL.” (Josh. 1:8 NIV) “Study this Book of Instruction CONTINUALLY. Meditate on it DAY AND NIGHT so you will be sure to OBEY everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” (Josh. 1:8 NLT)
Here is the dilemma we face my dear friends, EVERY DAY:
- The devil goes around as a roaring lion, looking for someone TO DEVOUR. (katapinō: to consume) (1 Pet. 5:8)
- Whenever we get victory the devil comes back AGAIN AND AGAIN. (Luke 11:26)
- We must use every piece of God’s armor to RESIST THE ENEMY when he attacks. (Eph. 6:13)
- The devil challenges the WORD OF GOD. (Gen. 3-1)
“…the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD rebuke you!” (Zech. 3:2)
This is very important to us: “ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God, and IS PROFITABLE for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…” (2 Tim. 3:16)
- is profitable for doctrine; For the discovering, illustrating, and confirming any doctrine concerning God, the being, persons, and perfections of God; concerning the creation and fall of man; concerning the person and offices of Christ, and our redemption by Him, our justification by His righteousness, our pardon by His blood, our reconciliation and atonement by His sacrifice, and eternal life through Him, with many others.
- for reproof; of errors and heresies; this is the sword of the Spirit, which cuts all down. There never was, nor is, nor can be any error or heresy broached in the world, but there is a sufficient proof of the ABSOLUTE TRUTH of the Word in the Scriptures; which may be profitably used for that purpose, as it often has been by Christ and his apostles, and others since in all ages.
- for correction; the evil nature of sin it is shown, its wicked tendency is exposed, and the sad effects and consequences of it are pointed out in these writings: for our instruction in righteousness.
- for instruction in righteousness; Everything the Word accomplishes in us through teaching, reproof, and correction is aimed at INCREASING our righteousness so we’ll “be thoroughly equipped for every good work”
Just in case it’s not CLEAR ENOUGH about what we are to do with God’s Word… “You shall love the LORD your God with ALL your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall TEACH THEM DILIGENTLY TO YOUR CHILDREN, and shall TALK of them when you SIT in your house, when you WALK by the way, when you LIE DOWN, and when you RISE UP. You shall bind them as A SIGN on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall WRITE THEM on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deut. 6:5-9)
